Job Objective:
Direct the Manufacturing, Engineering, Maintenance, as well as the
Shipping and Receiving activities consistent with Government regulations and
Plant, Divisional and Corporate policies. Responsible for safe work practices,
quality compliance, high productivity, cost control and employee morale.
Essential Functions:
1) Safety:
- Emphasize safety during daily contacts with personnel
- Ensure employee safety training is completed appropriately and timely
- Ensures that safe work practices as specified in the company safety manual are followed
- Ensures OSHA PSM standards are practiced including management of change and PM items
- Drives and promotes ownership of safety program throughout the site
- Responsible for driving good housekeeping standards;
2) Environmental Protection:
- Monitors compliance with site environmental permits
- Interact with the community and regulatory agencies on environmental issues
- Ensures environmental policies and practices are followed in all departments and all spills are properly reported
- Ensures hazardous and non hazardous wastes generated in all departments are properly handled and not allowed to accumulate.;
3) Productivity/Costs/Operations
- Responsible for the efficient and reliable operation of the site
- Utilize Six Sigma and Lean Manufacturing techniques to improve the site to an Operational Excellence Model
- Facilitates implementation of mechanical integrity program including all PSM elements to ensure that equipment is kept at peek performance with minimum downtime
- Drive process optimization activities at the site
- Monitor site costs; track and explain adjustments and variances
- Assist in developing operating and capital budget and maintain cost within approved budgets
- Identify and implement cost reduction, capacity creation, and productivity improvement projects. ;
4) Human Resources:
- Train and develop personnel using the Hexion P&O process
- Ensure Compliance with Hexion personnel policies
- Communicates Plant goals to Plant personnel, cooperatively developing work systems and processes to meet those goals
- Ensures fair practices with respect to disciplinary process
Education / Qualifications:
- A minimum of five years experience in a plant operating environment
- Managerial experience in a plant environment.
- Chemical Industry engineering experience preferred
- B.S. Degree in Chemical or Mechanical Engineering, or the equivalent combination of technical skills and operating experience
- Strong interpersonal skills and supervisory experience
- Organizational and motivational skills, as well as analytical and team building skills.
- Strong performance management skills
